Through a variety of different sources such as Mill-gate and donations we are able to offer opportunities for adults and children with disabilities and additional need to take part in football. These sessions gives the opportunity to partake in competitive football that they may not be able to else where.
What We Offer
The aim of our disability football club to provide equal opportunity for those who may struggle to interact or be involved in mainstream football training and teams. These sessions are designed for participants with disabilities and additional needs, and offers an opportunity to attend a fun and dynamic football session.
The Trust is part of the Every Player Counts National Disability Football programme in which we run Ability Counts Football Teams and Development sessions. To encourage more players to participate we have established ‘pan-disability’ groups that allow players with different disabilities to play as one team. The pandisability squads at Bury include players with various levels of additional needs/disabilities. We take a ‘person centred’ approach by supporting people to develop the skills and knowledge they need to express themselves as a unique individual and feel confident and competent within their local community. We strive to support people towards independence in as many areas of their life as possible, helping them to explore life’s opportunities and access pathways to leisure activities.
All our staff work with and have and understanding of how to deal with a variety of needs and have undertaken specific training for inclusive coaching.
